Bessy is an award-winning filmmaker, born in Istanbul, Turkey. Her films have screened internationally at festivals and venues including Pasadena Art Center Film Festival, International Children Film Festival, Lone Star Film Festival, Ifsak and Tursak short film festivals. She worked in the film, tv and commercials industry as an freelance assistant director for over five years. After graduation from Istanbul Bilgi University, Film & Television in 2005 she went to California to continue her film studies with the Fulbright Scholarship she was awarded. She received an MFA from California Institute of the Arts, Film Directing program in School of Film / Video in 2009. She continues her Cinema Studies at Marmara University, Fine Arts Faculty. She has been a part time lecturer at Kadir Has University and worked in TV 8 on a live show.

 

Bessy is currently working as an Assistant Director on an independent feature film project as she starts sending her latest short ‘Tolerance’ to film festivals and finishing a feature screenplay. She intends to move on directing movies and commercials and just make shorts as a hobby.
